Inline-4 Cylinder Bike Engine

The inline-four engine or straight-four engine is a type of inline internal combustion four-cylinder engine with all four cylinders mounted in a straight line, or plane along the crankcase.

The smooth, fast-revving, extremely popular inline-4 is a universal engine architecture that powers most sport bikes you can think of. Since its introduction on the iconic Honda CB750 in the late 1960s, the inline-4 grew in popularity among the Japanese manufacturers for its ease of production, reliability, and good performance.

Today, they power virtually every Japanese sport bike, and the vast majority of road racing bikes in any supersport or superbike class in the world. Sport bike riders love the inline-4 for its smooth power delivery, screaming high revs, and the exhilarating top-end rush most performance inline-4s deliver. Found in the most sport bikes, especially from Japanese manufacturers.

Strengths  :

  • Simplicity and popularity of engine architecture
  • Smooth power delivery
  • Fast-revving
  • Cranking out big horsepower, especially at high RPMs

Weaknesses  :

  • They need to scream, most are tuned for higher-end power
  • Torque is not their strong point
  • Can be a little wide

Suzuki GSR750

There are already many aggressive-looking “streetfighter” naked bikes on sale. One glance at Suzuki’s new, GSX-R750-based GSR750 would convince most people that the streetfighter sector is where it belongs. It has all the trademark styling: a front-heavy look featuring a striking headlight, with a stripped-away rear section exposing a fat tyre and exhaust plumbing, while edges, swage lines and angles all lead the eye relentlessly forward and down to the front wheel. It shouts power, speed and attitude, and if you were making a buying decision on looks alone then a GSR would be on your shopping list.

Yet despite the engine originating in the 2005 GSX-R750 for many, the perfect sports bike of its time the GSR750 is more aligned with a range of softer, entry-level middleweights. It’s the motor that defines the machine, as always, and for this application the GSX-R wildness has been tamed, with more than 40bhp sacrificed for greater torque in the lower and middle reaches of the rev range.

To achieve this, the valves are smaller, they move less, the fuel injection is revised and the intake tracts are narrower. It's a strategy that makes sense because no one is likely to take an unfair street bike on the track, because the exposed riding position means high speeds aren’t sustainable for long. Around town and on enjoyable back roads, thrust from lower revs is much more useful. Powerful 749 cm3 4-cylinder fuel-injected engine is tuned to deliver a dynamic wave of smooth torque and strong acceleration and sensation.

Kawasaki ZX-10R

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R or ZX 1000 E is a Kawasaki sport bike, the successor to the ZX-9R. It was originally released in 2004 with minor revisions in 2005. It combines an ultra-narrow chassis, low weight, and radial brakes. In 2004 and 2005 the ZX-10R won Best Superbike from Cycle World magazine, and the international Masterbike competition. Kawasaki has raised the bar for motorbikes with its official reveal of 2016′s Ninja ZX-10R model. Produced for the racetrack, its latest installment hosts an impressive 210 horsepower along with a four-cylinder engine. Additionally, the ZX-10R includes a Brembo braking system that supports top notch brake force control.
